TSMC’s 5nm chip capacity of 2021 is already packed, Apple has highest 80% of total volume

According to the latest reports, TSMC’s advanced manufacturing capacity in 2021 has been “empty reserved.”

Among them, Apple’s iPhone application processor and Arm-based computer processor expanded the scale of mass production and monopolized more than 80% of the 5nm capacity. The 7nm capacity that Apple vacated was also taken over by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).

The third phase of TSMC’s Fab 18 factory will begin mass production in the first quarter of 2021, with all 5nm production lines in place, which can provide more than 90,000 wafers per month.

According to analysis, TSMC will carry out capacity allocation in the first and second half of the year, and some product lines will be pre-launched in the first half of the year to avoid capacity shortages after the peak season orders in the second half of the year. In addition to Apple, Qualcomm, MediaTek, Supermicro, Broadcom, and Meiman Electronics all have 5nm production plans.

It is reported that the 6nm process optimized by TSMC with the 7nm process is also tight incapacity. In addition to Qualcomm and MediaTek’s 7nm process, their 5G processors will be manufactured using 6nm. Intel will also use TSMC’s 6nm process to manufacture GPU products.

TSMC’s revenue this year will hit a record high. A few days ago, SMIC was included in the physical list, which also means that the foundry market still has insufficient capacity, and more orders will be transferred to other foundries. It is expected that TSMC will face the happiness troubles of continued tight production capacity in 2021, and revenue is expected to hit a record high.
