One UI 8: New features, beta rollout, and design changes explained

Samsung One UI 8

Starting this week, Galaxy phones and tablets are getting beta features from One UI 8. One UI 8 was designed on Android 16 to improve your phone’s speed, help you more and make it user-friendly.

The main improvements and new features

  • Better graphics and a simple design give the interface a fresher, faster look.
  • New designs are introduced on Gallery, My Files, Reminder and Calendar to support easier and more convenient navigation.
  • Scientific mode in the Calculator app can be used in both portrait and landscape now, which means you won’t have to switch your phone each time you do advanced math.
  • You’ll find improvements in Quick Share, particularly with its new tabs and better privacy settings.
  • Tools like AI Zoom give sharper photos, there’s Portrait Studio for better portraits, and it learns from your habits to offer proactive ideas.
  • You can use Now Bar and Now Brief to get updates and reminders for what is up next.
  • If your device is supported, you can be part of the beta program.

The beta version of One UI 8 is open to users of the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra in the US, Germany, Korea and the UK, with further opening to more countries and devices to come. Other top Galaxy devices, such as the S24, S23, Z Fold/Flip series and some A-series models, will get the new software later in the year.

Make sure privacy and security are taken seriously

Your data stays secure with Knox Vault, as you can pick between letting your device or the cloud handle the processing.

Basically, Galaxy users are now experiencing a smarter, safer and attractive user interface with One UI 8, as the beta version is out and a full release will come soon.
