Galaxy Watch 8 Classic chip revealed, new software features coming in 2026

Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Series

Samsung is about to launch the Galaxy Watch 8 and we’re hearing new information. It is reported that Samsung will use the Exynos W1000 chip in the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. Experts believe the Exynos W12 is a notable upgrade over the previous chip, the Exynos W930, that was in the Galaxy Watch 6. At this point, Samsung hasn’t made any official statements, but the W1000 may allow the new watches to be both quicker and use less power.

Software improvements are being developed by Samsung as well. A main highlight for Wear OS watches in 2026 will be the addition of “Live Updates.” You’ll now be able to see app information on your wrist without having to go inside the app, much like how Apple provides Live Activities on iPhones. As an example, you could check live scores of sports, see available ride-sharing options or track when your food will arrive, all from the lock screen.

The Galaxy Watch 8 series is slated to launch in July at the next Galaxy Unpacked event, together with the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6. In the meantime, we’re likely to see more sharing of information online. Since software and hardware are getting better, the Galaxy Watch 8 series may offer a more enjoyable experience to Android watch users.
