One UI 8 brings new Gallery, Animations, and Quick Panel features

One UI 8

Samsung’s upcoming One UI 8 update, based on Android 16, is set to introduce exciting changes for Galaxy users. A key feature is the new “Private Album” in the Gallery app, allowing users to hide sensitive photos and videos in a secure, password-protected folder. This makes it easier to keep personal content safe from prying eyes.

The update also enhances animations for a smoother experience. Compared to One UI 7, One UI 8 offers faster and more fluid transitions, especially when opening apps or switching screens. These improvements aim to make the interface feel more polished and responsive, particularly on flagship devices like the Galaxy S25 series.

Additionally, One UI 8 refines the Quick Panel, merging notifications and quick settings into a single, customizable layout. Users can now swipe down from the top to access both in one place, streamlining navigation. The charging animation has also been updated with a sleek, modern design that appears on the lock screen when plugging in the device.

Samsung is testing these features in internal beta builds, with a public beta expected in late May 2025. The full release is likely to roll out with new foldable phones in July. These updates show Samsung’s focus on privacy, performance, and user-friendly design, building on One UI 7’s foundation.
