Qualcomm could reveal Snapdragon chip for Galaxy S26 earlier than expected

Samsung usually powers its Galaxy S series phones with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon chips, at least in many countries. Right now, the Galaxy S25 is expected to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which should be announced in October 2024. But it looks like things might happen faster for the Galaxy S26.
A new report says that Qualcomm plans to reveal its next flagship chip, likely the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, as early as September 2025. If this happens, Samsung could get an early start on testing the chip for the Galaxy S26 series.
Qualcomm’s past Snapdragon Summits usually happen in October or November. But this time, the company might move the event to September and host it in Hawaii, just like before. The reason for this early reveal could be Qualcomm’s competition with companies like MediaTek, which is also pushing hard with new high-end chips.
For now, it’s still too early to confirm exactly what changes the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will bring. However, rumors say it will use new Oryon CPU cores, possibly offering a big jump in performance and efficiency.
If everything goes as expected, Samsung’s Galaxy S26 could be one of the first smartphones to use this powerful new chip, giving users even better speed and battery life.
