One UI 8 (Android 16) may add a feature to block USB devices on locked phones

Samsung is getting ready to launch One UI 8 based on Android 16 later this year. A new leak suggests that it could bring a useful feature that blocks USB devices when the phone is locked. This would make your device even more secure.

The information comes from Mishaal Rahman, a well-known tech expert. He found some hidden code in Android 16 that hints at this feature. Right now, Android already blocks USB file transfers when a device is locked. However, with Android 16, it could also block other actions like connecting keyboards or charging devices through USB if the phone is locked.

This added layer of protection would be helpful if someone tries to access your phone through USB without permission. Even if they use special tools or devices, they wouldn’t be able to connect to your phone unless it’s unlocked.

Samsung often includes Google’s security features in its One UI updates. So, if Google makes this feature official in Android 16, there’s a good chance Samsung will add it to One UI 8 too. This would be another step in Samsung’s efforts to make Galaxy phones safer and more private for users.

One UI 8 is expected to come later this year, likely after Android 16’s official release.
