Samsung has decided not to take part in Google’s Android 16 Beta Program. While other smartphone makers like Xiaomi, Vivo, and OnePlus have joined the program, Samsung is focusing fully on its own One UI 8 update, which will be based on Android 16.

This isn’t a surprise, as Samsung usually skips early Android beta programs. Instead, the company works on bringing a stable One UI version that fits well with its Galaxy devices. Samsung usually launches its beta program for Galaxy phones a few months after Google’s Android release. For Android 16, Samsung is expected to begin One UI 8 beta testing around August 2025, possibly starting with the Galaxy S24 series.

At the same time, early leaks are giving us a look at what One UI 8 might include. One big change could be coming to the Samsung My Files app. It looks like the app will get a fresh new design with a cleaner layout and smarter file categories. These updates aim to make it easier for users to find and manage their files.

The redesigned My Files app may also include new icons, smoother navigation, and better performance. It shows that Samsung is working to improve both looks and usability with the upcoming update. While Android 16 is still in early testing, Samsung is already preparing its version to match its design and performance standards.
