Samsung may replace Gemini with Perplexity AI on Galaxy devices

Samsung might soon stop using Google’s Gemini AI on its Galaxy smartphones. According to a report from Android Authority, the company is testing Perplexity AI as a new built-in assistant for Galaxy users. Perplexity AI is known for giving accurate and direct answers, and Samsung could add it to the default Samsung Internet browser.
In a test version of the Samsung Internet app, there’s now an “Ask with Perplexity” option, which appears when users highlight text. This feature allows people to ask questions based on selected text and get AI-generated answers quickly, similar to a web search but more focused.
Samsung has already included Gemini in its Galaxy S24 phones, but that partnership might not last long. If Samsung decides to move forward with Perplexity, it may replace Gemini in future Galaxy AI features. The test is still limited and only found in a beta version, so nothing is official yet.
This change could give users a better AI experience, especially if Samsung wants to offer more than what Gemini currently provides. With AI growing fast, Samsung is exploring different tools to find what works best for its users.
For now, we’ll have to wait and see if Perplexity AI becomes a full part of Samsung’s AI plans in future updates.
