Galaxy S23 Ultra Speed Test: One UI 7.0 vs. One UI 6.1, Plus a peek at Galaxy S25 Ultra’s new look

Galaxy S23 Series

The Galaxy S23 Ultra was recently tested for speed using Geekbench, comparing its performance on One UI 7.0 and One UI 6.1. The results are exciting! Even though One UI 6.1 is older, it still holds its own against the newer One UI 7.0.

Running on One UI 7.0, the Galaxy S23 Ultra feels fresh and powerful, but the speed boost isn’t huge compared to One UI 6.1, according to the Geekbench scores. We’ve made two simple charts to show how they stack up in single-core and multi-core tasks.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, built just for Galaxy devices. This chip has eight cores split into three groups: one fast core at 3.36GHz, four at 2.80GHz, and three at 2.02GHz. Now, let’s dive into the test results!

Single-Core Results

Single-core scores show how the phone handles simple tasks like opening apps or browsing lightly.

  • One UI 7.0 Beta: 2018
  • One UI 6.1 Stable: 2027

In smaller tasks like web browsing or text editing, One UI 6.1 scores a tiny bit higher—about 9 points more (0.4%). For example, browsing the web on One UI 6.1 is 4% smoother. But in everyday use, you’d hardly notice the difference.

Multi-Core Results

Multi-core scores reveal how well the phone tackles bigger jobs like gaming or multitasking.

  • One UI 7.0 Beta: 5300
  • One UI 6.1 Stable: 5152

Here, One UI 7.0 shines with a 148-point lead (2.9% better). It’s faster at things like browsing with many tabs open (5% better) and rendering graphics (2.9% stronger). This makes One UI 7.0 a winner for heavier tasks.

What’s New with One UI 7?

One UI 7.0 brings a fresh design and cool features to the Galaxy S23 series. But it misses out on the Galaxy S25’s fancy Log Video camera trick, which lets you tweak videos more after recording. The S25 series also gets a slick new camera app design.

Galaxy S25 Ultra Teaser

Samsung hinted at a bold new BlackSilver color for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It might join the lineup soon, adding a striking look to its already impressive style.

In short, One UI 7.0 boosts multi-core power, while One UI 6.1 stays strong for simpler tasks. The S23 Ultra is still a champ, even without some S25 perks!
