One UI 7’s blur trouble with big folders

Samsung’s One UI 7 update brings a cool new feature called Big Folders to the home screen. Other systems like Apple’s iOS, Huawei’s HarmonyOS, and many Android versions already have something similar. But while Big Folders are new to One UI 7, the Blur Engine tied to them isn’t working perfectly.
Big Folders make the home screen look nice and easy to use. They can hold up to 8 apps you can tap right away, and there’s a button to expand them for more options if needed. It’s a handy setup.
Samsung’s Blur Engine looks great across most of One UI 7, but it stumbles with Big Folders. The blur effect isn’t steady—sometimes it’s see-through and fuzzy, other times it’s fully blurred. It doesn’t look the same every time.
You can spot the problem when you switch screen sizes. On a lower resolution, the blur behind Big Folders looks different compared to a higher resolution. This happens with most wallpapers, which makes it stand out. People on Reddit and Samsung’s Community pages have noticed this glitchy blur, too. Using a plain wallpaper without patterns might tone it down, but the blur should work smoothly no matter the screen size or background.
Right now, One UI 7 is on the Galaxy S25 and S24 series, plus the Z Flip 6 and Z Fold 6. Newer phones come with it built-in, while older 2024 models are testing the Beta version. Samsung is still testing One UI 7 in Beta, with a full, stable release planned for April. That update should fix the Blur Engine across the whole system, giving everyone a smoother and more dependable experience.
