New video feature might come to Samsung Galaxy S24

S24 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy S25 is set to introduce several new camera features, including one that lets you record videos in a special way called ‘log’. This feature allows for better color editing and higher-quality footage. Now, there’s talk that this cool feature might also be available for the Galaxy S24 series through a future software update.

A tech insider, Tarun Vats, suggests that with the update to Android 15 and One UI 7.0, the Galaxy S24 Ultra could get this log video recording option. And for the regular Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+, they might see this feature when they get updated to Android 16 with One UI 8.0.

What’s Special About Log Videos?

In simple terms, log videos are filmed with colors that look a bit flat. This makes it much easier for video editors to tweak the look of the video exactly how they want it. Also, these videos can capture more detail in both bright and dark areas, which is great for professional video work.

Recording in log format usually needs stronger hardware, so it was surprising to hear this might come to older models like the S24 series. However, this news is still just a rumor. The software update mentioned, One UI 8.0, is probably in its early stages, and plans can change. It’s wise to not get too excited yet, as Samsung might decide not to include this feature for the older models due to technical or other reasons. So, while the possibility of log video recording on the Galaxy S24 series sounds exciting, it’s best to wait for official announcements from Samsung to know for sure.
