When Google will show us Android 16

Android 16

Google has been busy with Android 16, releasing two developer previews before showing off the first beta version last month. However, they haven’t yet made a big public announcement about it. Traditionally, Google unveils new Android versions at their big event called Google I/O. They’ve announced that this year’s event will happen on May 20th and 21st, 2025. Here’s what we know so far.

In a recent blog post, Google shared that the Google I/O event will take place at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View. You can watch it live on YouTube if you can’t be there in person. At this event, Google plans to discuss their latest products, tech advancements, and innovations, especially in areas like AI and Android. Although they didn’t name Android 16 specifically, based on previous years, we can expect a detailed look at the new operating system.

Samsung’s Version of Android 16 (One UI 8.0)

Samsung is set to customize Android 16, calling it One UI 8.0. However, we don’t have much information on this yet. Samsung users might be a bit cautious about getting too excited since the rollout of One UI 7.0, based on Android 15, hasn’t reached most Samsung devices yet.

Also, expect a deep dive into artificial intelligence, with a spotlight on Gemini, during Google I/O 2025. The event will start with keynote speeches, then move into sessions, product demos, and networking opportunities spread over two days. So, mark your calendar for a comprehensive update on Android 16 and more at Google I/O 2025.
