No hidden camera for Samsung’s newest top phone

Samsung

Samsung might not include a hidden camera under the screen for their next big phone, the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Instead, they plan to stick with the current screen style with a small hole for the camera for another few years.

Rumors suggest that the Galaxy S26 Ultra won’t have a camera hidden under the display. This technology isn’t quite ready yet because it can make pictures look not as good or clear as they should.

Samsung wants to keep the quality of selfies high, so they’re waiting until this new tech is better before they use it. The idea of a camera that’s invisible when not in use sounds cool, but it’s not here yet. You’d only see a small black spot where the camera is when you’re taking a picture.

There was talk earlier that the first version of the S26 Ultra might try this new camera tech. Samsung’s screen team was looking into making this work for their top phone.

However, a new rumor says that this isn’t happening soon. Samsung did use this tech in some of their folding phones, starting with the Z Fold 3.

Samsung has just launched the new Galaxy S26 series. They’re now working on some less expensive phones and another phone called the Galaxy S25 Edge, expected around April.

Later this year, they’ll show off new folding phones. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is rumored to have a much better version of this under-display camera tech.
