One UI 7 Update: Not as quick as iOS or Android

One UI 7

Samsung has been taking its time with the rollout of One UI 7, leaving many Galaxy users waiting impatiently. The latest news suggests that Beta 4 might come out next week, but there’s still no clear date for when everyone can get the stable version on their phones.

Last October, Google released Android 15 for Pixel phones, and Apple rolled out iOS 18 to its iPhones back in September 2024. Meanwhile, Samsung is still in the beta phase for One UI 7, which is based on Android 15.

Even though the update is already late, Samsung says they’re doing their best to speed things up. However, they’ve made it clear that their update won’t be as quick as those from Android or iOS. They argue that pushing a big software update to so many different models at once is tricky because each phone has unique hardware, software tweaks, and network carrier needs to consider.

The Beta Program plays a crucial role here, helping to spot and iron out any problems before the update goes live for all users.

When you look at Apple, they manage to update all their eligible iPhones on the same day, from the oldest models to the newest. This is because Apple controls both the hardware and the software, giving them an advantage. Samsung, working closely with Google, should ideally be able to offer similar quick updates for Galaxy phones, like what’s seen with Pixel phones and iPhones.

However, Samsung won’t release One UI 7 to all eligible Galaxy phones at the same time. Instead, the rollout will happen in stages. On a positive note, they might surprise everyone by speeding up the process, aiming to cover most premium models by March 2025.
