Samsung is busy getting the Android 15 update ready, known as One UI 7. Even though Google is already looking ahead to Android 16, expected in the second quarter, some Samsung phones won’t see any more big software updates after this one. Samsung phones have a set time for how long they get new software. Most phones are promised updates for at least four years from when they’re first sold. But, some cheaper models don’t get this long.
One UI 7 hasn’t rolled out yet, but we know some Samsung phones won’t get any new operating system updates after this year. Android 15 will be the final big update for several well-liked Samsung models, though they will still receive security updates for a bit longer.
The Galaxy S21 series, which started with Android 11 and One UI 3.1, will see its fourth and last major update with One UI 7. After that, no more big updates; One UI 8 isn’t on the cards for them. The same goes for the 2021 foldable phones like the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3; they’ll miss out on Android 16. With One UI 7, these devices will focus on making the best of Android 15.
