Samsung has stirred up some talk with their latest phone, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, especially about its S Pen. They’ve decided to sell a new S Pen for this model, but there’s a catch – it doesn’t have Bluetooth anymore.
The new S Pen for the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which you can buy in Black, Light Gray, or Light Silver, costs $50 in the US. This is the same price as the S Pen for the older Galaxy S24 Ultra, even though it doesn’t have Bluetooth features.
Without Bluetooth, you can’t use Air Actions. These are cool tricks like controlling your camera or music player or moving around your phone’s screen without actually touching it. It’s a bit of a letdown because these features made the S Pen special.
Samsung explained that they removed Bluetooth because not many people were using those features. They said only 1% of users liked those Bluetooth tricks, but when you think about it, 1% of the millions who bought the last model is still a lot of people.
There’s a rumor going around that Samsung might stop including the S Pen with their phones in the future. But, we can’t say for sure if that’s going to happen. What we do think is this: if Samsung isn’t giving you Bluetooth, the price for the replacement S Pen should probably be lower, right?
So, if you’re thinking about getting this new S Pen or holding onto your old one, it’s good to know what you’re paying for. The price hasn’t changed, but what you get for that price has.
