Elon Musk continues to joke about Twitter acquisition

According to the latest report, since Musk announced that he would abandon the $44 billion acquisition of Twitter, the two sides have been involved in a legal battle. Still, Musk continued to joke about the Twitter acquisition.

On Saturday, Musk tweeted that if Tesla and Twitter merged, it would create “Twizzler. ” Musk is playing a homophonic stalk here. “Twizzler” is a very popular candy brand in the United States and often appears in American TV series. Musk’s tweet undoubtedly raised a lot of questions, like, is he planning another merger, or is he hinting at something in a rather ironic way?

Musk’s acquisition of Twitter has to start in April this year when Musk proposed to buy Twitter for $44 billion. But he later expressed skepticism about the Twitter deal, and repeatedly hinted and threatened to pull out of the deal, citing an unclear number of spam accounts on the Twitter platform.

On July 8 this year, Musk notified Twitter that he would terminate the acquisition agreement, citing failure to disclose key information. He said Twitter did not comply with its contractual obligations.

To force Musk to comply with the acquisition agreement, Twitter filed a lawsuit against Musk in Delaware Chancery Court on July 12. It is reported that Twitter plans to hold a four-day trial in September, and the deadline for the deal is October 24. However, Musk has called for a trial as early as February 13, 2023.

On July 19, Chief Judge Kathaleen McCormick of the Delaware Chancery Court ruled that a five-day fast-track trial will be held in October this year, rejecting Musk’s request to reconvene next year.

Musk proposed an Oct. 17 trial after a Delaware Chancery Court judge ruled that the trial would begin in three months. Last week, Twitter accepted Musk’s offer. Shortly after Katherine ordered a five-day trial to begin on Oct. 17 to decide whether Musk could back out of the deal, Musk’s legal team launched a lawsuit against Twitter in a Delaware court on Friday.
