New leak reveals AMD’s new generation of flagship GPU Navi 31 uses 7 small chips design

The revealer “Greymon55” today revealed the news of AMD’s new generation of a flagship GPU Navi 31, saying that it uses 7 small chips (Chiplet) designs. The revealer said that Navi 31 will be equipped with two GCD chips (Graphics Complex Die) and four MCD (Memory Complex Die) chips, as well as a connection control chip, a total of 7 small chips.

Among them, the GCD chip adopts TSMC’s 5nm process, and the MCD chip adopts TSMC’s 6nm process. According to VideoCardz, the MCD chiplet may be where the Infinity Cache and memory controller reside.

In October 2020, AMD released the RX 6900XT / 6800XT / 6800 graphics cards. The RX 6800 and 6800XT graphics cards will be available on November 18, 2020, priced at USD 721 and USD 500, respectively. The RX 6900XT will be available on December 8, 2020, priced at USD 1255.

AMD’s next-generation graphics card is also expected to be released in October this year. Before that, AMD will also launch several RX 6X50 XT graphics cards in May, with the same GPU and an upgrade to 18Gbps of video memory.
