Intel i9-12900KS processor gaming test released

At the end of March, Intel globally released the i9-12900KS flagship processor, priced at US$739. Now, the source Tom’s Hardware has released a game test of the i9-12900KS.

In 1080p games, the average game frame rate of the i9-12900KS is 2.7% higher than that of the i9-12900K. Although the i9-12900KS did not significantly improve the average frame rate, in the more scientific 99th frame rate test, the i9-12900KS improved by 6.9% compared to the i9-12900K, which means a smoother gaming experience.

Moreover, the sources also pointed out that some of the games it tested were close to the GPU bottleneck at 1080p, so when a new generation of graphics cards comes out later this year, the 12900KS may improve even more. Also, the difference between the 12900KS and 12900K is imperceptible at 2K resolution due to GPU bottlenecks.

Furthermore, the  i9-12900KS is designed with 8 large cores + 8 small cores, of which the small core is clocked at 2.5GHz and the turbo frequency is 4GHz, which is 100MHz higher than the i9-12900K; the large core is clocked at 3.4GHz and the turbo frequency is 5.5 GHz, which is 300MHz higher than i9-12900K.

The basic power consumption of this processor is 150W, which is 25W higher than that of the i9-12900K, and the maximum turbo power consumption is 241W, which is the same as the i9-12900K.
