Apple iOS 15 tips and tricks: How to get notified when your friend isn’t at a location in Find My

Posted on

In this article, we will tell you how to get notified when your friend isn’t at a location in Find My.

“Find My” is an app and service provided by Apple Inc. This feature allows you to connect your iOS devices so that you can find them in case they got lost.

The Find My app combines Find My iPhone and Find My Friends into a single app in the latest versions of iOS, iPad, and macOS.

So now the Find My app also allows sharing your location with friends, family, and contacts from your iOS devices and you can also locate them. To share your location you have to make sure that Share My Location is turned on.

Use the Find My app to get a notification when your friend’s location changes. You can get notified when a friend arrives at a location, leaves a location, or is not at a location.

How to get notified when your friend isn’t at a location:

You can receive a notification if your friend or family member isn’t at a specific location during a set schedule. For example, you can be notified if your child isn’t at school during school hours.

Step1: Open Find My.

Step2: Tap People at the bottom of the screen, then tap the name of the person you want to be notified about.

Step3: Under Notifications, tap Add, then tap Notify Me.

Step4: Under When tap [your friend’s name] Is Not At.

Step5: Choose a location, or tap New Location to create a new location and set a location radius.

(With a larger radius, you’re notified when your friend is near the location instead of right at the location.)

Step6: Select when you want to be notified.

  • Time: Select a start and end time.
  • Days: Select the days of the week.

Step7: Tap Add, then tap OK.

(Note: Your friend must approve the notification before it’s set. They get an alert asking for approval on the time and day the notifications start.)
