Nvidia GeForce Now supports Apple M1 / Max MacBook

According to the latest report, cloud gaming has had a rough start on iOS, but Mac services such as Google Stadia and Nvidia GeForce Now have been able to provide games that might otherwise be unavailable on macOS to Apple computers.

Today, Nvidia is expanding GeForce Now to support 1600p resolution games running on the MacBook with the upgraded RTX 3080 level. GeForce Now is a cloud gaming service that allows players to stream games they already own in the PC gaming market (such as Steam and Epic Games Store).

So far, the service has only a time-limited free level, and a paid “priority” level, which provides faster connections, longer sessions, and ray tracing. The newer RTX 3080 level on GeForce Now allows players to obtain higher resolutions for the first time, and this feature is now available on MacBooks.

Moreover, Nvidia is launching GeForce Now 2.0.36 version for macOS, which brings support for RTX 3080 level 1600P gameplay. Higher game resolutions are available for all M1 MacBooks, including MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. This update also brings optimizations to Apple’s latest M1 Max MacBook, which fixes streaming with the correct aspect ratio.

Furthermore, the update also includes a fix for streaming with the correct aspect ratio on Apple’s MacBook Pro M1 Max, as well as improvements to the countdown when viewed on in-game overlays.

GeForce NOW RTX 3080 members can now play with their M1 Macbook Air or Macbook Pro at native resolution, reaching the glorious 1600p. The session time for streaming media is even longer-up to 8 hours. With RTX 3080 and RTX ON for priority members, you can experience real-time ray tracing games like “Cyberpunk 2077” and “Control” without having to upgrade to a PC.
