How to fix FaceTime audio not working on iPhone and iPad?

FaceTime is an excellent video call service managed by Apple users. It is very easy to use, which is one of the reasons people like it. But when FaceTime stopped working, the hell became loose, especially it’s audio. Does FaceTime Audio also not work for you? When it doesn’t work on iPhone and iPad, please refer to the 11 improvements of FaceTime Audio.

For some users, the FaceTime audio option is greyed out. Others cannot hear people when they are on a FaceTime call. To fix the issue, check your internet connection first, followed by the solutions mentioned in this post.

We will start with basic solutions first that require you to check a few things. Let’s begin.

1. CHECK COMPATIBILITY

If you bought a new iPhone or changed the country (region)/carrier, you should first check whether it supports FaceTime. This is because FaceTime Audio is not available in some countries, regions, or operators. You should check the carrier support in your country/region from the official Apple website.

2. RESTART PHONE

Once it is determined that the iPhone supports FaceTime audio, no settings are required. Just restart to resolve FaceTime audio issues. Save everything you have done, then restart your iPhone or iPad. After restarting, please try to call through FaceTime and see if the audio problem is resolved.

3. CHECK VOLUME

Usually, we think that FaceTime has some major problems, and we ignore simple things. If you cannot hear the other party’s audio, you should check the volume of your iPhone or iPad. Make sure it is not too low. Use the physical volume up button on the device to increase the audio level.

4. UNMUTE MICROPHONE

Another simple thing you can ignore is the silent option. You may have accidentally muted yourself, which is why other people cannot hear you. To unmute, tap the mute button under the FaceTime video.

5. CHECK MICROPHONE PROBLEM

Since you are experiencing audio issues in FaceTime, you should rule out the fact that there may be a problem with the microphone. Check and confirm whether the microphone is suitable for other applications. Make regular calls or Internet calls through any calling app and see if you encounter the same problem.

6. CLOSE OTHER APPS USING MICROPHONE

Are there other applications on the iPhone or iPad that use the microphone? This may also be the reason why you are experiencing FaceTime audio issues. Check and forcibly close other applications that are using the microphone. These will include messaging and music applications.

7. SET CORRECT DATE AND TIME

FaceTime requires that the correct date and time should be set on your iPhone and iPad. To set the correct time, go to Settings > General > Date & time. Enable Set automatically.

8. DISABLE NOISE CANCELLATION

You should also try disabling the noise cancellation feature on your iPhone. For that, go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual. Enable the toggle for Phone Noise cancellation.

9. RE-ENABLE FACETIME

Setting up FaceTime from scratch can also help solve the audio problems associated with it. To do this, you must disable FaceTime and enable it again as shown below.

Step 1: Go to Settings > FaceTime.

Step 2: Turn off the toggle next to FaceTime.

Step 3: Restart the phone.

Step 4: Open Settings > FaceTime. Enable the toggle for FaceTime. It will turn green.

10. RESET NETWORK SETTINGS

If the above solutions do not help, you should reset the network settings. Doing so will not destroy any personal data on the iPhone or iPad. However, Wi-Fi, cellular network, VPN, and similar network settings will be reset. To do this, go to “Settings”> “General”> “Reset”> “Reset Network Settings”.

11. RESET ALL SETTINGS

If resetting the network settings does not help, you will have to reset all the settings on the device. Likewise, it will not delete any personal data. However, it resets most settings to their default values. Learn more about what happens when you reset settings on iPhone and iPad.

FACETIME NOT WORKING

We hope that one of the above solutions has decided not to solve the FaceTime audio problem on iPhone and iPad. If the problem persists, don’t worry. You should check the common solutions for FaceTime that cannot be used on iPhone and iPad. This can also be used to solve problems.
