How to fix right country in Google Play Store

Setting the correct country in the Play Store is very important because it determines what you see in the store. Some apps, games, and other data in the Play Store are limited to a few countries/regions.

In this case, if their game store is located in a country/region that is different from the current country/region, users will face the problem of not being able to view local content. Now, when they try to change the country of the game store, they won’t be able to change it. If you encounter the same problem, then this article will help you change the country/region of the Play Store on your Android phone.

This can be annoying when you cannot change the country or region in the Play Store. If you encounter this situation, you will not be able to use the currency of the current country/region, and you will not be able to run on the app. Fortunately, you don’t need to use the Play Store in other country profiles. You can follow the instructions below to reform to move to a new country.

Check out various solutions to change the country in the Google Play Store.

1. CHECK LIMITATIONS

Google’s official support page mentions various restrictions related to changing Google Play’s country/region. they are:

  • The first thing is the first thing. If you changed your country/region within the last 12 months, you won’t be able to change your country/region again. This is because you can only change the country/region of the game store once a year. A year starts on the date you change your country/region. You will need to wait for the remaining few months before you can try to change the country again.
  • Secondly, you need to be in a new country.
  • Finally, if you are part of the Google Play family library, this may also affect the country/region of the Play Store. Basically, all members of the Google Play family must be in the same country. If you are the family manager, this restriction will not affect you, because other people should be in the same country as you. However, if you are another member of the Play family library, the regional settings of Google Play will also affect you. You need to leave the family library to switch countries.

2. CLEAR PLAY STORE’S CACHE AND DATA

When you move to a new country, the Play Store will automatically pop up a notification. If not, please clear its cache and data. Your application or its related data will not be uninstalled. By default, this will only reset the Play Store settings. Please contact our instructor to find out what happens when app data is cleared.

Please follow the steps below to clear the cache and storage of the Play Store.

Step 1: Open Settings and go to Apps.

Step 2: Under All apps, tap on Google Play Store.

Step 3: Tap on Storage followed by Clear cache. Then tap on Clear storage/data.

Step 4: Restart the phone. Now try changing the country.

3. CHANGE GOOGLE PLAY COUNTRY

You can also change the country in Play Store manually. Let’s try the regular method of changing the Play Store country.

Step 1: Open the Play Store on your Android phone or tablet.

Step 2: Tap on the three-bar icon at the top and select Account.

Step 3: Under the Preferences tab, you will have the Country and profiles section. If you are in a new country, you will see the Switch to <country name> Play Store text with various payment methods available, such as debit card, credit card, PayPal, etc. Tap on the payment method that you would like to use. It’s mandatory to add payment details for the new country. Enter the relevant details.

Step 4: A confirmation pop-up will appear. Tap on Continue to confirm the changes.

4. UPDATE PLAY STORE

If both of the above methods fail, please try to update the Play Store manually. To do this, please launch the Play Store on your phone. Open the sidebar with the three-time icons and select “Settings”. Click on the Play Store version. The Play Store will have to be updated (if any). Check other ways to update the Play Store.

5. TROUBLESHOOT EXISTING PAYMENT PROFILES

This problem mainly occurs when the user cannot see the new country and payment option in Method 3. In this case, you will have to get help from your Google Payments profile. Basically, you will need to switch between or close existing payment profiles and create new profiles for new countries. Be sure to also add the payment method for the new country/region.

Here’s how to troubleshoot payment profiles.

Step 1: Open pay.google.com from a browser on your mobile or PC and log in with a Google account if you aren’t logged in automatically.

Step 2: You will reach the Google payments center screen. If you are from PC, tap on Settings at the top.

Step 3: Scroll down in Settings to the Payments profile section. You will see the name of the country that the Play Store is currently using. This should confirm that the Google payment profile is responsible for the Play Store’s incorrect country. Now you will need to switch to a different profile or create a new profile.

Switch to Different Payment Profile

If you have added multiple profiles to your account, you will see the “Google Play payment profile” section at the top. Under this, click on your name and payment profiles for all events will open.

If you have already added a profile for your country, please select to switch. However, please make sure that the Play profile displayed is different. If it shows a profile for a domain or any other content, it will not be used on Google Play. You must create a new configuration file as shown below.

After changing your profile, open the Play Store and check if the country/region has been changed. If the country has not changed, please create a new profile after deleting all existing profiles.

Create a New Payment Profile

To create a payment profile for your country, please open pay.google.com. Go to settings. Now, click the edit icon next to the country/territory under the payment profile. Click Create a new profile.

Follow the instructions on the screen to create the configuration file. You will be asked to select a country/region and add your address. Finally, the system will notify you that a new payment profile has been added. Play Store cannot change country/region 13

Now, open pay.google.com again and go to “Settings”. Here, you will see the new configuration file. Make sure to switch to the new profile. We have not done this yet. To use it in Google Play, you need to add a payment method for this new profile.

Add (or Remove) Payment Method

First, go to the new country profile from pay.google.com settings. After that, go to the payment method. You will find it on the top of the PC. On mobile devices, you can access it from the left sidebar. Play Store cannot change country/region 14

Delete all existing payment methods by clicking/tap “Delete”. Then scroll down and tap/click to add a payment method. Enter the payment details using the method applicable to the new country.

After selecting a new payment profile and activating the payment method, open the Play Store. Go to the account from the left sidebar. Hope you will see the new country in the country and profile.

If you still don’t see it, please close the Play Store app or clear the cache and data of the Play Store as shown below. If you still can’t see the new country, you need to delete all existing payment profiles as shown below.

Delete Payment Profile

To delete your existing payment profile, please change it as shown in the image above. After selecting the profile, scroll to the “Settings” page and you will see the “Close payment profile” option. Click it. A confirmation message will appear. Confirm to delete personal data.

Repeat the same operation for all existing (or older) payment profiles. Be sure to delete the relevant payment method as described above.

After deleting all profiles, please start over by creating a new profile with new payment details. This will also appear in the Play Store.

TIPS TO REMEMBER

  • Make sure you are in the right country profile before adding a payment method.
  • Clear Play Store’s cache and data or force stop the app after trying each method.
  • Ensure Google has removed all your existing profiles before you add a new one. I had to delete the country profile twice to make it work.

SHOULD YOU CHANGE COUNTRY

If you have moved to a new country for one year or more, you should change the Play Store country. In this way, you can use local content that would otherwise be inaccessible.

When you change the country in the Play Store, it will not affect the data stored in Google Photos, Drive, or other Google apps. However, you will not be able to use your Google Play balance. If you go back to your original country, you can still use it. In some cases, you may not be able to access certain applications, books, games, TV shows, movies, etc.
