Nokia said that Edzcom will deploy a dedicated wireless and application platform based on its Digital Automation Cloud, which is designed to give high-bandwidth, low-latency dedicated networks and local edge computing.

As part of the industry’s current trends, the 5G network will enable Konecranes to develop digital factory and port solutions and increase the level of automation.

Stephan Litjens, vice president of enterprise solutions for Nokia Cloud and Network Services, explained that Konecranes has been at the “frontier” of private wireless and introduced an LTE-based architecture four years ago to develop part of its business.

Konecranes highlights its leading position in using digitalization to improve productivity and safety.” He added. Edzcom further introduced its experience in involving and operating dedicated wireless solutions in different locations.

And added that the reliability of such solutions is critical to the business, and the realization of “effective connections” requires the creation of an ecosystem of networked terminals systems.

For Nokia, this move has increased the number of enterprise customers deploying private networks to more than 260, of which more than 40 have integrated 5G.
