Graphics and image chip manufacturer NVIDIA warned that it will still face the disadvantage of a shortage of graphics cards in 2021, which means that consumers may find it difficult to get a new graphics card in the next few months.
NVIDIA Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress said on an investor conference call earlier this week: “We expect demand will continue to exceed supply for most of this year.”
This means that the demand for new series of graphics cards such as RTX 30 is in short supply until 2022. Nvidia has previously warned that the supply of the entire first financial quarter may remain weak, and now it is almost the end of April, the supply of graphics cards has not improved significantly.
Moreover, TSMC and Intel also warned that chip supply problems may continue until 2022. The global chip shortage has forced some automakers to cut production. Consumers can hardly buy brand new graphics cards, CPUs, and game consoles such as PS5 and Xbox.
NVIDIA pointed out that despite these problems, the supply will continue to increase over time. Kress said: “We will see this year’s supply will continue to increase. But in any case, it is still very difficult to get a new graphics card. Gamers, cryptocurrency miners, and scalpers have already made the actual price of graphics cards out of control. ”
