Local small businesses protested against Amazon India

Amazon will hold an online summit in India called Smbhav. Amazon is trying to tell Indians “American companies can help small businesses expand and sell goods online.” Indian small businesses seem to have different views.

Moreover, thousands of small businesses decided to hold their own events this week to protest against foreign e-commerce companies such as Amazon. The trade group representing 600,000 sellers stated in a statement that they will hold an “Asmbhav” summit at the same time.

Besides, Indian traders are the prime minister’s core supporters. They have always been dissatisfied with Amazon and Wal-Mart’s Flipkart. According to reports, Amazon has secretly supported a small number of sellers through the Indian platform for many years, using them to bypass Indian foreign investment regulations.

Of course, Amazon firmly denies this accusation. India is currently considering adjusting foreign investment regulations to add more restrictions to e-commerce. However, Smbhav’s goal is to introduce how Amazon and its partners create unlimited possibilities for the “Digital India” project through digitalization, technology, and the Amazon ecosystem.
