● Windows Hello interface on the Windows 10 login page
In this feature update, Microsoft has made improvements to Windows Hello. If your device has a built-in Windows Hello camera, but you plug in another Windows Hello compatible camera, you can now set the external camera as the default Windows Hello certified device. For example, you bought a monitor with a built-in webcam, which is very useful.
● Windows Defender Application Guard
The feature update also includes performance improvements to Windows Defender Application Guard (WDAG), including fixing a problem that opening certain Office documents may cause a delay of more than one minute. This can happen if the file is accessed via a universal naming convention (UNC) path or a server message block (SMB) shared a link.
Robocopy’s performance is also improved when copying files whose total size exceeds 400MB. Finally, fixed an issue where a WDAG container may use nearly 1GB of memory when it is idle.
● Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)
Microsoft has made some improvements to the Group Policy service in Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) to better adapt to remote office scenarios. Previously, changes to user or computer groups might take some time to propagate, which meant that when an administrator tried to generate a report, the results of group policy changes would not be displayed.
As you can see, the Windows 10 21H1 feature update mainly optimizes remote office scenarios. Microsoft said that because of COVID-19, it did not release a major feature update this spring, and the update it made was to address the most urgent requirements it heard from customers.
