TSMC’s 4nm process will be mass-produced before schedule

TSMC is part of the 4nm process of the 5nm family. It was originally expected to be trial production in the fourth quarter of 2021 and mass production in 2022. The equipment supply chain has recently reported that the mass production schedule has been advanced to the fourth quarter.

And that the first wave of production capacity will be fully covered by Apple that will be used for new Mac products with a comprehensive improvement in performance. Additionally, TSMC will announce its first-quarter financial report on April 15.

TSMC’s previously revealed financial report showed that the company’s revenue in the fourth quarter of 2020 was 12.676 billion U.S. dollars, and 5nm process technology contributed 20% of it. In August last year, TSMC President Wei Zhejia stated at the TSMC Technology Forum that the enhanced version of 5nm is expected to be mass-produced in 2021.

And 3nm will be mass-produced in the second half of 2022. Wei Zhejia said at that time that 3nm is expected to be trial production in 2021 and mass production in the second half of 2022. Compared with 5nm, 3nm speed will be increased by 15%, power consumption will be decreased by 30%, and transistor density will be increased by 70%.
