Microsoft will stop technical support for classic version of Edge browser from March 9th

software updates

Microsoft’s officially declared again in early February that it will stop technical support for the classic version of the Edge browser on March 9th, and completely abandon the classic version of the Edge browser on April 13.

Microsoft pointed out that the new version of Microsoft Edge is replacing the traditional Edge, and millions of users have upgraded to the chromium-based version of Microsoft Edge.

The new Microsoft Edge browser provides features such as better network compatibility and standards support. In the upgrade patch on April 13 this year, users who have not installed Chromium-based Edge will install the browser.

Along with this, the classic version of Edge will be removed from the operating system. This means that if the user installs two Edge browsers at the same time, they will not be able to use them at the same time. Other applications that use the EdgeHTML rendering engine are not affected because WebView is still supported.

Microsoft claims that the new Microsoft Edge gives built-in security and the best interoperability with the Microsoft security ecosystem, and is more secure than Chrome for businesses using Windows 10.

However, users of Win7 and Win8 do not have to worry, because the classic Edge browser cannot be installed on these two versions of Windows, so this replacement will not be affected.
