Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip getting One UI 3.0 firmware update

On February 18, 2021, Samsung announced its One UI 3.1 update plan for several qualified smartphones, including Galaxy S20, Note 20, Note 10, S10, Z Fold 2, Z Flip, etc. In addition, it has been confirmed that users of the company’s Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy S20 Ultimate will receive selected powerful features of the Galaxy S21.

After the announcement, Galaxy S20 and Note 20 series phones have begun to obtain One UI 3.1 software updates via OTA. Now, the new features of this version of One UI are being launched for Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Z Flip 4G/5G devices. You can check the latest firmware number of the One UI 3.1 update below.

Updated Software version:

  • F916BXXU1DUB5 – Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2
  • F707BXXU2DUB4 – Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G
  • F700FXXU4DUB4 – Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4G

After updating your Galaxy Z Fold 2 or Z Flip with the One UI 3.1, you can also remove metadata that reveals the location of photos before you share them. Besides, you will be able to find the new Eye Comfort Shield mode on device Settings. The Eye Comfort Shield mode adjusts the blue light based on the time of day automatically.

Adding to this, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Z Flip 4G/5G owners can dynamic photos and videos with new smart camera features like autoexposure controller, touch autofocus, Multi Mic Recording, improved Single Take, and Object eraser tool. On the other hand, the One UI 3.1 doesn’t provide Director’s view feature for these foldable handsets.

A few things to be noted that it is an initial rollout so the One UI 3.1 changes may take some time to be available for every Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Z Flip 4G/5G device

How to check for updates manually:

  • Open device Settings
  • Find and select the Software updates menu
  • Finally, tap on Download and install button.
