Transcend releases CFexpress Type B Reader RDE2 and CFexpress 820 Type B Card with speeds up to 1.7GB/s

CFexpress memory card is suitable for high-end cameras and camcorders. Like NVMe hard disks, it uses a PCIe protocol to provide stronger read and write speeds and meet the requirements of high-end devices.

Transcend recently released the CFexpress 820 Type B memory card and the corresponding RDE2 card reader. This memory card is available in 256GB and 512GB capacities, including a continuous read speed of 1700MB/s, a constant write speed of 1000MB/s, and a maximum of 1300MB/s.

The device uses the NVMe PCIe Gen3 x2 protocol, the storage particles are 3D NAND, and the working voltage is 3.3V. The appearance of this Type-B memory card is exactly the same as the XQD card, and it is compatible with some cameras.

It is suitable for professional SLR and mirrorless cameras, shooting RAW format video and high-speed continuous shooting. In order to ensure safety, this Transcend memory card has passed strict environmental tests and can operate at extreme temperatures ranging from -10-degree C to 70-degree C.

Transcend’s own SSD Scope software can monitor card health, perform TRIM optimization, diagnostic scans, and firmware updates. Like hard drives, this card supports SMART to facilitate users to learn more about health and life information.

Transcend also released the CFexpress Type B RDE2 card reader, equipped with a USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 interface, providing a maximum bandwidth of 20Gbps, supporting Type-A and Type-C interfaces at the same time, and two types of data cables.

The product is made of aluminum alloy and wrapped with rubber, which can resist falling and slipping. It should be noted that the RDE2 card reader does not support XQD cards. Additionally, the computer interface needs to support the corresponding protocol to reach the speed of 20 Gbps.

The 256 version of Transcend’s CFexpress B memory card is priced at 2499 yuan ($386.99 US), and the 512GB version is priced at 3699 yuan. The RDE2 card reader is not currently on sale in China.
