Apple files trademark application for Apple Watch, test blood sugar without blood draw

Apple recently filed a patent application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) entitled “Using environmental sensors to enhance terahertz spectroscopy and imaging performance in dynamic environments”. It pointed out that the device can use absorption spectra to obtain blood glucose readings Non-invasive.

The patent mentions that the technology can use terahertz electromagnetic radiation instead of light to pass through the human body to detect the “quality of gas, health or liquid-solid matter”, and can also be used to detect skin cancer and other related problems.

The patent also mentions a potential problem because the technology requires openings, which may cause the device to lose water resistance. At the same time, this technology may mean faster battery consumption than before and may cause device prices to rise.

It is not clear whether Apple will bring a non-invasive blood glucose monitor into the Apple Watch, but this at least means that Apple is considering developing this product.

It is worth mentioning that Samsung will be equipped with a blood glucose meter in the next-generation smartwatch to be launched later next year.
