According to a report, Tesla Model 3 became the best-selling car in the UK in December 2020, with a total sales of 5,798 vehicles.
As per data from the Association of British Automobile Manufacturers (SMMT), plug-in electric vehicles (PEV) accounted for 6.6% of the UK car market in December 2019. In December 2020, this data reached 23.4%.
In the United Kingdom, the sales of plug-in electric vehicles have made a huge leap in just one year, from 72,834 in 2019 to 175,082 in 2020, an increase of 140%.
In December 2020, the highest-selling model in the UK car market is the Tesla Model 3, the second is the Volkswagen Golf, and the third is the Ford Fiesta.
The latter two are all internal combustion engine (ICE) cars. The UK will stop selling new internal combustion engine cars and trucks by 2030, and stop selling new hybrid cars and trucks by 2035.
