More than 40,000 games from Apple’s App Store in China today, including NBA 2K20, Assassin’s Creed, and more

Apple issued a notification email requesting game developers in China to submit version number information in the background.

The email shows that in order for the developer’s paid games or games with in-app purchases to be used on the App Store in China, the game version number and supporting files need to be entered in the App Information section of the App Store Connect game page, and before December 31 Submit updates to App Review.

After December 31st, games that are not submitted as required will not be available on the App Store in China until the game version number is submitted.

According to statistics from Master Cicada, 47,692 apps were removed from Apple’s App Store today, most of which are game products, and most of them are games without version numbers, including “NBA 2K20”, “Assassin’s Creed: True Colors”, and “Don’t Starve: Pocket Edition” “Hell Frontier” etc.

Early as February of this year, Apple pushed an announcement to the majority of domestic developers, requiring that the game version number be submitted before June 30. Apple said in the announcement at that time, “The game needs to obtain the approval number issued by the State Administration of Press and Publication of China. Therefore, please provide us with any paid games you plan to release in mainland China before June 30, 2020. Provide the approval number of the game for in-app purchases.”
