Here’s another speculation on the price of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S21

Over the years, Samsung has been changing its law to provide more affordable derivative models for its flagship product line. Although the name has changed from Mini, Lite, and e to the current “Fan Edition”, it never changes. If the news is reliable, then Samsung may also adjust the pricing strategy of the Galaxy S21 series of smartphones, making the entry-level Galaxy S21 model the most affordable flagship option since 2016.

It was speculated that Samsung’s research on more affordable models may be partly due to the impact of COVID-19 on the global economy. At least in the eyes of Korean media, the “Fan Edition” (FE for short) of the Galaxy S20 appeared at the right time.

According to the latest news from industry sources, the entry-level Galaxy S21 may be priced at approximately 980,000 won (approximately US$899 / 5899 RMB). For comparison, the Galaxy S20 in early 2020 is US$999 (about 6523 RMB).

Taking into account that the pricing of flagship smartphones in recent years has been climbing the peak if the news comes true, the phone is expected to hit a new low price since the Galaxy S7 priced at US$750 (approximately 4899 RMB) four years ago.

At the same time, in order to control costs, Samsung is likely to equip the Galaxy S20 with cheaper plastic or glass materials, a flat-screen, a slightly lower-order camera, and some additional features. As for whether consumers will buy it, there is still time to test.
