WhatsApp will end support for older iPhones on January 1, 2021

Even if manufacturers provide relatively long system update support, the following devices will still be abandoned by WhatsApp, such as Apple’s original iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 4.

LG Optimus Black, Motorola Droid Razr, Samsung Galaxy SII, HTC Desire, and older devices in the Android device camp will also bid farewell to the official support of WhatsApp on January 1, 2021.

In addition, it should be noted that the systems of the following devices must be updated to iOS 9 / Android 4.0.3 or higher, otherwise, support will be terminated on January 1, 2021.

Including Apple’s iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6S, as well as LG’s Lucid, Motorola Droid 4, Sony Xperia Pro, HTC Sensation / Thunderbolt (4G), and Samsung’s original Galaxy Note / Galaxy S3.

If your device is running KaiOS (such as JioPhone / JioPhone 2), please also remember to upgrade the system version to KaiOS 2.5.1 or higher. Unfortunately, the Windows Phone platform will usher in its deadline on January 1, 2020, when all WP smartphones (including the Lumia series) will not be able to use WhatsApp.

Finally, WhatsApp claimed that it has never explicitly restricted the use of jailbroken or unlocked devices, but related modifications may affect device functions, and there is no official plan to provide subsequent support for it.
